About The Artist:

Bio:

Margaret Montgomery is a New York City based artist.  Who sometimes works directly from life, but also uses photos as source material.  She is both a studio and plein air painter.  Her subject matter includes cityscapes/landscapes and still lifes (which she thinks of as "tablescapes").

Montgomery is a Realist painter.  Her paintings explore the limitations and illusory aspect of perception.  The influence of living in a big, and often impersonal place can be seen in Montgomery's approach to her subject matter:  Her paintings project a psychological distance----a sense of anonymity.

Educational Background:

She studied art at The Art Students' League of New York; The National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts; Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, residency program.  Additionally, she has a bachelor's degree from New York University----where she majored in philosophy.
